Step 1: Connect to ChameleonUltra

First, download and install the MTools BLE App on your mobile device. Once installed, click the Bluetooth list icon on top right. Then power on your ChameleonUltra device.
Click connect button to Chameleon Ultra.

Step 2: Select a Slot and Set Type to Mifare Ultralight

Next, select a slot on the ChameleonUltra where you want to clone the Mifare Ultralight tag. The ChameleonUltra has 8 slots, each of which can be configured to emulate a different type of tag. For this tutorial, we will be using a slot to clone a Mifare Ultralight tag. Set the slot type to Mifare Ultralight, which will allow the ChameleonUltra to emulate the characteristics of a genuine Mifare Ultralight tag.

When checked the Reset Data options, the slot data will be reset when changing the slot type.

Step 3: Read Data from Original Tag and Simulate

With the slot type set to Mifare Ultralight, navigate to the “Dump” tab within the MTools BLE App. This tab allows you to read the data from the original Mifare Ultralight tag. Place the original tag near the ChameleonUltra, and the app will automatically detect and read the tag’s data. Once the data has been read, click the “Simulate” button to upload the data to the ChameleonUltra. This will configure the ChameleonUltra to emulate the original Mifare Ultralight tag, complete with its unique identifier and any stored data.

Tips and Variations

The cloning process is now complete. Your ChameleonUltra is now configured to emulate the original Mifare Ultralight tag, and it can be used in place of the original tag in most applications. This can be particularly useful for testing, development, and troubleshooting purposes, as well as for creating backup tags or replacing lost or damaged tags. Whether you’re working with access control systems, public transportation, or other applications that rely on Mifare Ultralight technology, the ability to clone and emulate tags can be a valuable asset.
