GDM GEN4 · MIFARE® CLASSIC 1K COMPATIBLE

Switchable 4-byte / 7-byte UID

A changeable UID 1K S50 credential for testing, development and access-control projects. The GDM key fob supports switching between 4-byte UID and 7-byte UID modes; the white card is the same platform in a credit-card form factor.

One platform, two form factors

The electronics and workflow are the same. Choose the shape that fits your project:

  • White card: wallet-sized ISO card for badges, prototypes and bench testing.
  • Key fob: compact ring-ready form for portable test credentials.
  • UID mode switching: the key fob can be configured for 4-byte UID or 7-byte UID operation.
  • Classic 1K memory: 1,024 bytes across 16 sectors, subject to the tag’s supported access conditions.

The supplied example shows PN532 detection, GDM / USCUID (Gen 4 GDM) identification and a UID change followed by verification.

PN532 CLI makes UID mode switching straightforward: use the CLI workflow to select and switch the GDM tag between 4-byte UID and 7-byte UID, then read back the tag to verify the result.

For a graphical workflow, PN532 BLE connects to MTools BLE App, which provides a dedicated USCUID GUI for supported GDM configuration and UID operations.

Detailed inspection with Proxmark3

Proxmark3 identifies the ISO14443-A parameters, reports Gen 4 GDM / USCUID magic capabilities and exposes the configuration used by the tag.

Recommended workflow

  1. Use PN532, Proxmark3 X/RDV4 or another compatible reader to detect the tag.
  2. Back up and verify the source credential before any write operation.
  3. Write only a UID and data you are authorized to use, then read back to confirm.

Compatibility note: Android and iOS NFC alone cannot change this tag’s UID. Reader support, software and access conditions vary by implementation.
